Review-Sally Hansen Miracle Gel

When it comes to nail polish, I have a lot of preferences. I want a polish that is going to last more than 4 days, last through washing my hair and the dishes, be strong enough to keep my soft nails from breaking, quick dry time, and have a glossy finish. Until now, that meant shellac (my favorite being Gelish).  In my hunt for a "no light needed" gel polish, I have tried several and always been disappointed. Well the day has finally come where I have found one that satisfies, Sally Hansen Miracle Gel. Try it, and you will understand why the word "Miracle" is in the name.

Things I love about this product:
  • It really does last. I have tried it several times now and it always goes at least 5 days without a chip, and still looks good until about day 10.
  • It comes off easily. Instead of sitting for half an hour inhaling the aroma of Acetone from your foil wrapped fingers, it comes off easily and quickly with simple nail polish remover.
  • It has strength. My nails are soft, and with normal nail polish, always break. This is the only "no light needed" gel I have tried that keeps my nails (almost) every bit as strong as shellac.
  • The price. Individual bottles of the Miracle Gel are about $5.50 to $7.50 per bottle and I have seen starter kits that come with not only both the top coat and one color for less than both individually, but the box it comes in has a $2.00 off coupon inside for your next bottle!
  • It's quick to apply. Two coats of the color, two coats of the top coat, and go. Each coat dries quickly so you can apply these four coats in less than 20 minutes, which is much faster than shellac.
  • It's quick to dry. One thing everyone loves about shellac is that they are dry the minute you walk away, and you don't have to sit like a zombie for an hour after applying being very careful not to nick or smudge anything. And while this polish doesn't dry INSTANTLY like shellac does, it dries much faster than any other non-shellac polish. Apply it, and in under 5 minutes you are good to go.
Another thing that puts this polish at the top of my list is the color range. Most "no light needed" and even some of the LED brands, come in very limited colors. Miracle Gel comes in a whopping 47 colors! For someone with polish ADD like me, that is definitely a good thing. You can view all the colors here. Below I am wearing what I think is the PERFECT moody, vampy, fall color, color 480 Wine Stock. I am currently on day 6 of this polish and still going strong.

The only thing missing from this Miracle is that plump look you get with shellac and if you ask me, the staying power, glossy finish, and strength are more important anyway, not to mention how much faster it is to apply. Applying and drying complete in under 30 minutes.

     My verdict...Buy and try!

  1. I love this stuff, too!

I've had luck with all colors that I've tried except one of the lighter blues (the name escapes me right now). I put that blue on three times and it was crackled by the end of the next day every time. I think (hope) I just got a bad bottle. Love the product otherwise!
